If you are new to The Affiliate Post then you could not have timed things more perfectly. I have just installed a new theme which I received via email from the guys at Unique Blog Designs. I have always loved the work that these guys do and if any of you have not seen it then I recommend you go check out their portfolio. Better still this theme is free and can be downloaded from UBD Website. I’m just getting my head around it so you might notice the odd change here and there for a few days but I have to say I am very impressed. It has certainly made a difference!
While I am on that note, there are some other changes I have had to make recently, so if you are a regular reader I do apologise but I have changed my feedburner rss feed. If you dont mind can you all go and sign up again and any new readers…now is the time to subscribe too!! Go on….don’t be shy!
So AP, apart from a brand spanking new them, what else is new?
Well I had a rough weekend and a couple of things troubled me. First off I was witness to a smash and grab robbery just round the corner from my house. It involved 4 kids on mopeds, designer handbags and shoes, lots of glass, a screaming baby, 3 shellshocked shop assistants, lots of people watching and my ‘too many malboro lights’ ass chasing them down the street in vain. I won’t dwell on that too much though but it’s not like I live in a skanky part of London or anything. Anyway, the crime rate here is out of control but that’s another story. The second thing that troubled me was I spent hours working on a ‘niche store mashup script‘ trying to get the damn thing to work and it very nearly beat me. I hate being beaten and I generally do not like to stop working until I have got something right. For some reason I was having issues pulling the ebay and amazon feeds and tell the truth I had to sleep on it. I did eventually decide to cheat a little the next day and manually coded the feeds in. I actually think it looks much better and I will make it live on Reggae Artists shortly for all to see.
What is Reggae Artists? Well again, if you are a new reader you may well not know that there is a great competition going over at site flipping unversity and that is my site! It’s going to be fun doing something outside of mmo for a change and I urge you all to either enter the competiton (IT IS NOT TOO LATE) or at least go comment on Reggae Artists and let me know your thoughts.
My Bans sites are ticking over nicely and I am leaving them on the back burner for the next 30 days. I have had a good run of ACRU’S (new ebay signups paid at $25 each) recently so I am pleased with progress on that front. All in all this promises to be a really good month; other than the fact that my fiancee went back to the US today that is! Damn you and your 4th July celebrations.
Need a recap?? Well go try the mashup script, it is fairly straight forward I promise. I always say that you should have multiple streams of income and this is another string to add to my bow. Get involved in site flipping and try out the competition. Bryan will walk you through everything so there is never a better time to try something - You can follow my own efforts at Reggae Artists! And finally, new or regular readers alike……sign up for my new feedburner rss feed.
Please let me know your thoughts on my new theme, comments are always welcome.
I’ll be back with more shortly.
AP

i like the theme although i admit a lighter color scheme could be better… but anyway i like it
but i wouldn’t use the tag cloud… you can fill that space with better more useful (profitable) thingsJuly 2nd, 2008 at 12:56 pm -

Thanks for the link! Sorry about the issues with getting the free niche site script up and running…honestly I had it up and running in about 10-15 minutes myself.
If you have any further issues, or if you make any improvements - please post back in the forum and share with everyone!
Cheers!

UBD does very nice work. This theme is free? WoW! Very generous of them to offer it at no cost. I think it looks great.
Is the site above about Raeggea Artist, your entry in the SiteFlipU contest? Bryan has yet to update his blog, so i dont know who is doing what.

@ Hugo: I agree on the colours but I am up to my neck in work at the moment so I hope you can make do with the green for now. I have never used a tag cloud on any of my sites before so I’m going to leave it be aswell for now. My more profitable things are not on this site anyway!
@ JT: No problem. There will be a few more where that came from don’t you worry. I think I was just being a dumbass with the script but I’ll be sure to share my results with you all.
@ Missy…from chicago blog: I thought so too. A really good free premium theme from the masters of blog design. I’m more than happy with it so far. Needs a few PB tweaks though I think. The reggae site is my competition site…don’t ask me why. Call it a last second moment of madness but we’ll see how it gets on. What do you think of it by the way??? I too am waiting for Bryan to wake up and divulge the competiton!
@ Dai: and vice versa… appreciate you stopping by too. Is that all you like about the new theme???

Hey AP!
Re: Your theme, I dig the new look. I especially like the top feed box > Very clean and clear on subscribing. The whole thing reminds me of a “vault”. Maybe you should be TheAffiliateVault?

I actually have been thinking about tweaking my theme a bit because my nav layout sucks (posted about it lol).Re: The Site Flipping Contest, Nice job getting Reggae Artists up. I’m still behind, but I should have my entry up this evening (just writing for it now).

Ok - where to begin

You witness one smash and grab and you think thats bad: In 22 years of life in the Rainbow Nation (a viva peace >.< ) I have seen the following: my dad has been in three attempted high-jackings, I’ve been held at knife point twice. My brother was mugged by a pack of seven 10year olds all carrying knives, my cars brothers has been broken into. A man once tried to climb through my bedroom window (while I was in my bed
), my boyfriends car has been broken into 3 times, my brothers girlfriend was held by knife point at an ATM.And this has all happened in the good part of town
One of the reasons why I can’t wait to move back to Serbia (I’m a Serb living in SA since I was little) is that I can’t tolerate the crime levels. When I was in Serbia and London, I walked around freely at anytime of the night or day and feel safe. Especially in Serbia. In South Africa, no-one walks alone after 4pm in the afternoon. I used to leave my car and flat doors (while I wasn’t in them or I was!!!) open in Serbia, the first thing I did when I got back to South Africa when I was alone in the car for the first time, was make sure all the doors were locked, none of the windows were open…It’s crazy. Anyway, enough about me showing off about just the people close to me (don’t let me get started on my friends… )
I bought a really domain name for the competition. I chose something I had wanted to do rather then something that could get lots of traffic fast - oops. But I have started on the template, just need to get it up ^_^
And about your evil fiancee leaving you for 4th of July celebrations - how could she? Who celebrates the 4th of July anyway? Just one small country … called the United States of America XD *cough cough*

P.S. You must get one of those editing window periods for your comments, for people like me who proof their posts only once they’ve posted >.< Ignore all missing words & incorrect punctuation!

@ Jovana: I do the same when proof reading comments so perhaps I should get an edit feature going.
Regards your other comment…wow! I did not post about the smash and grab for anything other than a passing comment about my weekend but, oh boy…you beat me hands down with the rainbow nation!!!! Serbia sounds much better to me!
and……for the record…. I never said EVIL! I fear more backlash than the rainbow nation could throw at me if I don’t make that clear

Thanks for the comments/advice on my personal blog. It’s appreciated.
Re: site flipping comp. I’m glad I could make you feel better by being even further behind than you! lol .
Hard-nosed competition? Nah! If I could be of any help, I’d be glad to offer it. I’m doing this for the comradery and the fun of it, aside form learning something from you all. But, don’t get that twisted, I want to win!Yes, I like the site, I’m genuinely looking forward to discovering some good Reggae. The only advice I have at the moment is for you to get drunk on the weekend and give me time to attempt to get ahead in the competition.
