Tell me you are sitting there thinking to yourself that I must have been drunk when I posted this. That is if you even noticed the spelling mistake?
Well it was deliberate and you would not be alone in thinking that my usual standards had slipped. I was working on a site today when my better half peered over my shoulder and proclaimed ‘That’s not how you spell …..!’ I know it’s not darling but I recently bought a site that had quite a well known spelling mistake in it and the traffic it pulls is quite surprising. I found another one while doing my post on terapeak a few days ago, using those little teddy bear called Webkinz.
It is not something that I would recommend chasing all the time, especially if you are a bit of a perfectionist like me. It drives me crazy when I spot incorrect spelling and doing this site has been a killer because I’ll correct myself and then realise it was meant to be wrong in the first place. I’ve never tried this avenue of traffic out either so it will be interesting to see if spelling has an effect on whether or not someone will actually purchase.
Keyword research is a big factor in how I spend my time but believe me when I say it is well worth the effort. Below you will find a few of my favourite tools and don’t forget to check the spelling errors too!!

5. SEO Book
My better half has just reminded not to forget those geographical spelling differences that we so often debate. I don’t have a favourite (or a favorite) but here are a few examples of US and English spelling differences.

i have seen a lot of webkinz exposure for creating bans on this niche. But the spelling issue is very pertinent. I can imagine a decent traffic coming for that keyword. nice catch indeed.

Like I said, it’s not something that I do all the time but every now and then I remember to try a few ideas out. The webkinz one is a great catch and maybe I should jump on it rather than giving ideas away?! Thats the thing with niche store though…there are endless amounts that you can work with.
Thanks for stopping by. I have bookmarked your site for inspection tomorrow morning.

Dude you’re awesome! I was just going over my e-book sales wondering how the heck I should optimize my site… I spent like four hours fiddling with AdWords and it was driving me nuts!
I love the list, and as I’m sure lists have been built before, none of them are as interesting to read as yours.
Let me also commend you on the totally awesome pictures (yet again) as well ad the real life demo with real live websites. The MMO big wigs all do the same.. they talk in circles… leave half ass posts… tell you it’s all a trade secret… and in the meantime, my goldfish Albert could be making more money because all they give you is talk!
My folks always said that the proof is in the pudding. I agree and wish that more people would have the guts to come out and talk about the stuff you talk about!
Keep it up… fix your pings… and tell the wife hello. Peace

Once again, thank you PB. Are you on a personal mission to cheer me up for any particular reason??? Regardless, if I can help you with something just let me know. Your comments are awesome and I will keep up the honest and straight forward info for you. I have nothing to hide, like I said to hugo….there is enough out there for everyone!!
Going to fix the pings, the wife says hi back and peace to you too bro.

Hey, we use the same theme!

Great post. It reminded me of a site that would allow you to search eBay for misspellings to help you find deals. For instance, if you typed “webkinz”, it would spit out auction results with stuff like “webinz” in the title. I think it was Fat Fingers or something like that. I used to buy/sell on eBay and thought that it was a killer tool/idea. I never actually scored a deal on anything from trying it, but it was fun to use. lolJay
PS. I had to edit your comment on my blog and add a second F to your URL. Thought that was pretty funny after seeing this post when I came to visit

LOL - Thanks Jay. I don’t usually have fat fingers myself. It was some un-godly hour in the morning when I left that comment.
I know there are a few tools out there like that, but it’s not something I spend too much time on. I’ve never scored a killer deal yet either but hopefully this bans site I have just finished will pay dividends. It’s worth a try anyway!
Hope you stick around…I like your sense of humour
